Kyrgyzstan views friendly cooperation with China as priority of foreign policy -- Zhaparov

BISHKEK, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan views the development of friendly cooperation with China as one of the main priorities in its foreign policy, Acting President and Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov said here on Friday.
During a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Du Dewen, Zhaparov briefed the socio-political situation in the country and expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for providing great support and assistance for Kyrgyzstan's economic and social development over the years, and its support in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Kyrgyz side attaches great importance to Chinese investment in Kyrgyzstan and will do its utmost to safeguard the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens and enterprises in Kyrgyzstan, said Zhaparov.
In addition, Zhaparov said that Kyrgyzstan is ready to further strengthen its traditional friendship with China and promote all-round cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
For Du's part, she noted that China and Kyrgyzstan are good neighbors, friends and partners.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Chinese-Kyrgyz cooperation has developed rapidly and the two countries have always supported each other on their respective issues of core interest, Du added.
Du noted that in recent years, China and Kyrgyzstan have achieved fruitful results in the joint construction of the Belt and Road.
The countries have also jointly implemented a number of major projects in Kyrgyzstan, which have played an important role in promoting the economic and social development of Kyrgyzstan and improving the living conditions of its people, she said.
Since the beginning of the year, the two countries have conducted active cooperation in the fight against COVID-19 and witnessed the traditional friendship between the two sides grow even stronger, Du said.
China sincerely hopes that Kyrgyzstan will maintain stability and achieve economic and social development, she said, adding that China is ready to continue to work with Kyrgyzstan in helping secure new development in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the sides. Enditem
